What a comparison shows
- What differs
- Whether the funds track the same index, pay income out or reinvest it, hedge currencies, and how far apart their charges are in pounds a year. Index funds
- Charges
- The ongoing charge of each fund as a percentage and in pounds a year on £10,000, the cost before any platform fee. Ongoing charges figure
- Returns before and after inflation
- One, three and five years after charges, then after UK inflation (ONS CPIH), each with its end date and how it was measured. How real returns are worked out
- Calendar years
- Each fund’s return in each full calendar year and the year so far, side by side, with the basis of each figure. Calendar-year returns
- Ups and downs
- How much each price has swung, its largest fall over five years with the dates, and its lowest and highest 12 months. Largest fall
- Holdings overlap
- How much of the funds is the same companies at the same weights, shown only when both publish enough of their holdings to measure it. How overlap is measured
